Research Associate

Biolinq (San Diego, CA) is seeking to hire a full-time Research Associate to assist with its electrochemical biosensor development efforts. A competitive salary and benefits package is offered in conjunction with the opportunity to partake in biosensor R&D, thereby shaping the direction of Biolinq’s future product offerings. You will have the unique opportunity to work in an exciting startup environment and contribute to the course of biosensor synthesis and evaluation.

This is a dynamic role as part of a team of engineers and scientists developing a novel intradermal biosensor technology. It is a highly influential role in straddling R&D and pilot-scale production, making extensive use of proper laboratory practices, including preparing solutions, running experiments, and recording data. You will have the opportunity to assist the scientific team to perform experiments and collect data to validate biosensor performance.

What you'll be responsible for

• Assembling, cataloging, imaging, and preparing biosensors for evaluation by the scientific team • Executing automated electrochemical experiments and performing calibrations • Preparing chemicals, reagents, buffers, and solutions to support laboratory activities • Maintaining inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring laboratory instrumentation is performing within specifications • Implementing simple statistical methods aimed at understanding process variability • Working closely with the R&D team to implement a course of experiments • Other responsibilities as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a scientific or technical field required • A minimum of 2 years of post-graduation lab experience in biotech, life sciences, medical device, diagnostics or related area required. • Experience with biosensors preferred • Experience with operating in a regulated environment (i.e. design controls per 21 CFR 820.30) is preferred • Basic knowledge of electrochemistry and electrochemical techniques is a plus • Highly methodical, organized, and detail-oriented; able to communicate results clearly to the team • Willingness to follow stringent quality-control measures designed to improve test-to-test consistency • Close adherence to sensor synthesis and evaluation protocols provided by the R&D team • Able to perform well in a limited-resource setting and quickly adopt new experimental protocols • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office® productivity suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
